Version 2.0 – New Features!
We’ve now been up and running for just over a month, and we have been working away in the background to make this site even more valuable and efficient for business owners.
Today we are super-excited to launch version 2.0 of SK, which is actually a complete overhaul
Why We Changed Things
It was always our intention to make this site and attached advertising as valuable as possible to businesses and consumers alike. So we focused on re-designing the system so that businesses could control their listings and consumers could easily find what they were looking for.
Powerful Search
Lists are nice, but lists which are categorized and have a powerful search function are a lot more functional for consumers, making it easier to connect what someone is looking for with what businesses are offering. Our search function is now central to making that happen. Consumers can now search by keyword, region, and category to find what they are looking for.
Fully-Featured Listings
Having a list is nice, but if there isn’t enough information on that list to help people find out what they want to know, they won’t connect to the business.
Our new listings have:
- Opening Hours
- Easily searched feature tags (contactless delivery, curbside pickup etc)
- Menus! Add a special limited time menu for food or for services offered
- Keywords! Add keywords that are important to your business so that people who are searching can find you
- Latest News section
- Direct contact links
- Image galleries
- Ability to have video (promote what is going on RIGHT now with a video)
- Social Media Links
- Ability to add reviews
Business Owner Logins
Fully Featured Listings are nice, but when you are relying on manual data-entry from volunteers you get information that is quickly out-of-date, or even incorrect.
Now a business can add or claim their listing, and update it whenever they need to. Have a new menu each week? No problem, login and update it. Changed your hours? That’s OK, update them yourself from the new dashboard. Customers will always have the most up-to-date information for your business.
Guest Logins
If you aren’t a business owner but you want to add your favourite business, just sign up as a guest and add them! They can still claim and edit the listing, but at least you are helping them out by getting them added!
As a logged in guest user you can also add reviews to businesses to help others decide where to shop, and you can bookmark your favourite businesses so that you can come back every week and find out what is new with them!

We’re not done yet! It is our mission to help local businesses during COVID-19 and we are continuing to pay for advertising to get them out there in front of the public. We’re also going to keep improving the way this site works, and we rely on your feedback to help us get better. So please let us know how we are doing!
