Barkn up the Green Tree

  • Latest News
We love dogs. We love the planet. With the COVID-19 outbreak, we have decided to help the community by producing cloth face masks, using fabric odds and ends from our materials closet.

Eco-Minded, Evolved Products for Dogs
We make eco-minded, evolved products for dogs and their families. We design and handcraft collars, coats, and accessories with the environment in mind, using recycled materials as often as possible.

Paula Sara is a passionate dog owner who was taught how to sew by her grandmother. While other kids were playing with dolls, Paula was designing and sewing doll outfits. She launched Bark’n Up the Green Tree in 2011 with a focus on making healthy dog treats because she was concerned about what was being put in corporate pet food products. Paula soon expanded to add dog apparel. In 2016 she relocated to Kingston, Ont.
She has always disliked the idea of buying something and using it once, knowing it can be repurposed and used again. Many of her dog apparel items are made from discarded items. She formed partnerships across Canada with infant car seat recycling companies. Paula found seat belts can be repurposed into high quality, light, and long-lasting dog collars and leashes. She also recycles human ties into adorable neckties for canines.
